Log cabins are a fantastic type of self catering accommodation having had a holiday in this type of accommodation at least once if not twice a year I feel that I can recommend, with confidence, log cabin holidays. Here are five reasons why they are my favourite type of holiday accommodation:
Location
I have never found any other type of self catering holiday accommodation that is in such fantastic locations. From secluded little woods to river and loch side locations you will find cabins in areas that you would never get permission to build brick build buildings. The materials that they are made from seem to melt in to the surrounding scenery making them a pleasure to visit.
Quality
In the UK a lot of the log cabins have been built in the last 10 years, as such, the build quality and overall quality of the cabins is excellent. Compare this to some of the holiday cottages that are available and you’ll see why cabins are a firm favourite of mine.
Facilities
The facilities in even the most basic log cabins I have stayed in have always been exceptional, not all, but some will come equipped with a dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen, outside BBQ, DVD player, flat screen TV some have even had hot tubs on the balcony. The real top of the range cabins will even come with a wii or other games console – great to keep the kids occupied whilst your in the hot tub!
Value
You can always find a log cabin that will match your budget. If you can go on holiday in the off-season then even better – you’ll grab a bargain.
Pet Friendly
I have found more holiday log cabins that are prepared to take dogs than any other type of accommodation. With two dogs, this is yet another reason why log cabins are my favourite type of self catering accommodation.
