My Vacation in Benidorm, Costa Blanca, Spain

I recently returned from a vacation in the large tourist resort of Benidorm on Spain’s eastern coast in the area known as the Costa Blanca which translates as white coast. The coast has many fine beaches with a good quality sand. The waters are clear and free of pollution earning most of them the Blue Flag award from the European Union.

Benidorm has two very long beaches – Playa Levante and Playa Poniente. The shallow waters are ideal for families and they flock to Benidorm in the summer season so much so it is difficult to find space on the beach at times.

Benidorm is very built up mostly with high-rise towers so if you want a pretty place to visit for your vacation this is not the choice for you. Most of the tower blocks are hotels and apartments to rent, the choice is huge.

What I liked about my vacation in Benidorm was the fact the restaurants and bars lined the promenade so I could walk along there and have a large choice of food to eat, I had some great Spanish food of course but there were German restaurants and Italian restaurants as well. It was great not having to go far. You can have a quick swim, then go for a coffee or ice-cream and return to your sunbathing.

Also along the promenade was lots of live music at the Heartbreak bar there were some great bands such as Motorcity and Off Limits.

Speaking of bands and bars I found some amazing lively nightlife in Benidorm. People come here to let their hair down and party. I liked watching the live shows in Jokers bar best. There I saw the Sticky Vicky show which is a lady doing really usually magic tricks. I didn’t go to the Benidorm Palace but I believe they put on a big extravaganza show with dancers and a dinner included. I preferred just to take it easy and relax with a cold beer which was only 3 Euros in most bars for a large one.

Benidorm also has four good theme parks making it the number one family tourist destination for this part of Spain. I visited the best-known park of Terra Mitica which has areas of ancient civilisations. Of course there are many rides including some white-knuckle roller-coasters.

I would say if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful place for a family vacation or holiday then you can’t beat Benidorm it has everything you need. If you want culture and sights to see then look elsewhere in Spain.
